A carotid duplex scan is a non-invasive ultrasound test that uses sound waves to create images of the carotid arteries in your neck. It helps doctors assess the structure and blood flow in these arteries, which carry blood from your heart to your brain. This test is particularly useful for detecting blockages or narrowings  (stenosis) in the arteries, which can increase your risk of stroke.
